Research and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (REAP)

Encouraging economically and socially disadvantaged high school students to pursue careers in math, science, and technology through hands-on experience in research and development. More »

Established in 1979 with grants from the research offices of the U.S. Army, REAP is administered by the Academy of Applied Science and sponsors about 120 students at 52 colleges and universities nationwide each year.

REAP apprentices participate in summer cooperative work-study and research programs under the design and supervision of university mentors.

Successes: Up to 90% of REAP participants go on to pursue math, science, or technology studies at the post-secondary level.
