Academy Tells Its Story
at the NH?National Education Association Fall Conference

Sharing the common vision to improve education for all students, Academy staff joined New Hampshire teachers at the statewide National Education Association Fall Conference on October 5, 2001. Academy youth programs that stimulate student participation in invention and scientific achievement were featured.

The Academy's Young Inventors' Program" Manager, Pamela Hampton, unveiled the updated edition of the Academy's Meant To Invent!? Teacher Guide. Developed by New Hampshire teachers in 1993, the guide presents a vast array of enrichment materials for integrating invention into the elementary and middle school (K-8) curricula. The guide is available in print and through Academy administered teacher workshops, scheduled for the upcoming months.

David Countway, Academy volunteer, elementary school counselor, and past president of the New Hampshire School Counselor Association, spoke to the value of the Meant to Invent!? Teacher Guide and classroom lessons on invention that engage the interest of new teachers and other educators who embrace the Young Inventors' Program." Countway comments that, "Lessons on invention inspire an enthusiasm for learning at an early age. Students use their creativity and problem-solving skills, apply their knowledge to the creation of a personal invention, and gain confidence through recognition at the annual Young Inventors' Program" statewide celebration."
